To Octavia are here with their brand new single, “Made To Break”. Taken as the second single off their debut EP, Nocturnal, the fresh new Melbourne band are looking to let people know that they mean business. 

Beginning as a band in mid-2018, To Octavia have already made an impact on the local heavy scene, playing alongside bands such as Thornhill, Alpha Wolf, SECRETS, Wither, and many more. They have also recently announced their spot as the main support on Windwaker’s upcoming headline tour. Big things are coming for them, and I have no doubt that the incoming release of Nocturnal will keep this momentum going.

On “Made To Break”, vocalist Matt Ashley said;

“This track is a personal track for me, detailing the reality of a toxic relationship that is perceived as one that brings joy. The music is experimental in composition because it is has elements of the softest sections on the EP as well as the heaviest sections. This paired with the raw honesty of the lyrics, really defines To Octavia as well as us as musicians."

As a listener, the “Made To Break” features some hard-hitting and bouncy verses that involve grinding guitars and an immensely tough bass tone. Impeccable clean vocals and brutal screams complete the verses and lead perfectly into the flawlessly catchy chorus. Focusing purely on the clean vocals now, the perfectly mixed and well structured hook is what makes the song stand out especially well for me. The cleans are excellent, and work so well with the screams that I simply can’t wait to hear more from this EP.
