Filmmaker Milos Forman passed away just over a year ago at the age of 86. The Czech-born auteur was responsible for some noted films during his long career, punctuated best perhaps, by his 1975 film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The Jack Nicholson-starring film was met with widespread acclaim, netting 5 Academy Awards, and remains widely acknowledged to this day. Forman also helmed 1996's The People vs. Larry Flynt and the Jim Carrey powered 1999 flick Man on the Moon, both incredible pieces of film.
Now a year after his death, a new documentary remembers the incredible life and career of Milos Forman. Titled Forman vs. Forman, the documentary features well known Forman footage but also features film from private collections and home videos that were previously unseen to the general public. Directed by Jakub Hejna & Helena Trestíková, Forman vs. Forman premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival, however, no official release date has been announced.
The official blurb for the documentary notes;
"Miloš Forman sanctioned the creators’ idea to make the film, but he himself never got to be part of the project. Nevertheless, he is present in the scenes taken from his movie sets and through his reflections, in recordings from the early 1980s."
Forman vs. Forman is narrated by Milos Forman’s son Petr Forman.
