The
Faint
Danse Macabre
(Saddle
Creek)
How does one go about describing a band like The Faint? A band
that not only defies genre's, but is on the rise and becoming
quite the name. Sure, they started out as a typical indie-rock
band before foraying into the world of synthesizers, but that's
all in the past. What matters now is their latest full-length,
Danse Macabre - a masterful thematic trip through moody
80's-era synth-rock.
A definite punk influence underlies the dark, electronic beats
and effect-heavy vocals. While the album's name and lyrics maybe
melancholy and mysterious, there are plenty of hooks and head-knodding
dance beats on this to lift the spirits of anyone. Highlight
tracks include "Agenda Suicide", "Your Retro
Career Melted", and "Violent". The artwork is
really interesting as well. This is a band I urge everyone to
check out, as I'm sorry I didn't hear about them sooner.
