Byron Bay metalcore act Parkway Drive have been added to this year’s Warped Tour. Their website has said the band will be part of the traveling showcase from July 7th to August 12th.
This year’s edition includes headlining performances from New Found Glory, Bad Religion, Bayside, and Coheed & Cambria among the bunch. The summer tour will kick off in June and will run through August, but venues and details are yet to be finalized. The highly successful tour has come under fire the past few years for its commercialization of punk music and continued corporate sponsorship growth. Joe Queer of long-running pop-punkers The Queers has publicly stated, “I just don’t like that shit. All the guys in the bands remind me of the jocks I hated in high school. Fuck it, I’m not going. To me a punk gig is a small sweaty club with the audience right in your face knocking over the mic stand and boogying off the energy.”
Parkway Drive are currently touring the globe in support of their 2005 full-length, Killing With a Smile, which was re-released via Epitaph last year. They will soon hit Europe for dates with On Broken Wings and Carpathian.
