Several sources have announced that the follow-up to this year’s summer smash hit Transformers, will hit cinemas during the summer of 2009. Paramount themselves have announced that the date of July 29th, 2009 will be the day Transformers 2 will be released. The date however, seems ambitious, as noted film bloggers point out the impending strike, as well as director Michael Bay’s other commitments as possible obstacles for the target.

Much speculation has risen about whether or not Michael Bay will return for the second outing, having recently proclaimed he will walk out from the sequel due to Paramount’s poor handling of the upcoming DVD release. The North American version of the DVD will hit stores October 16th, with its Australian counterpart due early November.
